The Day One team will be offering live support on the @lovedoctordotin Snapchat handle, creating live Snapchat Stories to educate subscribers about relationship abuse and domestic violence, and directing vulnerable users to resources, information, and help. ‘Lovedoctordotin’ received dozens of daily queries from users in the United States, so a dedicated team in the country is a major step in increasing accessibility.
Snap Counsellors will now be even more accessible to young people who need the service!
Soon after our launch in March of this year, Snap Counsellors has been lauded by newspapers and blogs all over the world, resulting in an explosion of demand for our discreet counselling service in the United States. Having a counselling team in the Western Hemisphere means that Snap Counsellors will be able to provide round-the-clock counselling for vulnerable people.
Day One partners with young people to end intimate partner violence and sexual assault through community education, supportive services, legal advocacy and leadership development. Day One is the only nonprofit in New York City that focuses 100% of resources to addressing relationship abuse among youth. Serving the five boroughs of New York City, they use an empowerment model that invests and involves young people in maintaining safe relationships for themselves and their peers.
Day One’s programmes include a Community Education Program, Direct Services Program, and the Youth Voices Network, as well as several special projects to create awareness and engage young people about the issue of relationship abuse.
Thank you for joining hands with us Day One NY. You're awesome!

Snap Counsellors just won one of the most prestigious awards for creativity in social good, D&AD Impact. We were awarded the Graphite Pencil trophy for excellence in Communication & Interaction. We had been shortlisted a month ago and last evening we were thrilled to bits to hear our name being called out on stage at the glamorous PlayStation Theater in Times Square, New York City.
D&AD Impact is a new award for creativity for social good and one of the toughest awards to win in the creative, social impact and brand world, (tougher than Cannes Lions) so we're over the moon!
It has been instituted by D&AD along with Adweek and Fast Company to identify and celebrate great, transformative, creative ideas that have had real impact and, ultimately, contribute towards a better, fairer and more sustainable future for all. Unlike other award shows, D&AD Impact has a balanced and stellar jury like Kat Gordon of 3% Conference, Alex Dimiziani, Head of Marketing of AirBnB and Anthony Casalena Founder of Squarespace.
Our list of awards just got longer with a prestigious nomination at the Cannes Lions creative festival at France. We just scored an enviable shortlist in the brutally contested Cyber Lions category which celebrates the best work in the digital space.
We just won our first recognition from the marketing and design industry.
Close on the heels of a rousing global recognition, Snap Counsellors just picked up its first creative awards at the Kyoorius Creative Awards 2016. In a glittering ceremony in Mumbai last night, Snap Counsellors was awarded the winners' trophies for the 'Use of Social Media' and 'Digital Direct' categories.
We're hugely encouraged by this recognition and hope this powers our platform to help more people. Kyoorius is a relatively new award competition that's built on credibility and a partnership with D&AD. The prestigious jury included Scott McClelland of BBH APAC, Gary Steele of TBWA Singapore and Ralph Barnett of SapientNitra Australia.
Snap Counsellors is deemed an idea worth sharing! The young peeps at ESADE Business School, Barcelona thought our idea of a Snapchat-based teen abuse helpline was so cool they wanted us to come over and talk about it at their epic TEDx.
ESADE is one of the world's top 10 B-schools and this was indeed a huge honour!
After speed-packing some essentials into a suitcase, our counsellor Avani Parekh flew over to deliver a talk in their modern campus. The theme of the TEDx was Back to the Future and Avani spoke about Understanding Relationship Abuse in the Digital Age. She also covered our background, how we work and what the future holds for counseling in the digital world.
Shoutout to Michael Schara, MSc student for hooking us up with this awesome gig!
We launched last week and we're already participating in a workshop! The Gender Studies Cell of St. Stephen's had a series of events lined up for their annual event and we had our counsellor Avani Parekh conducting a session on 'Navigating Love and Sexuality'.
We got a chance to chat with a passionate bunch of students about their views on teen relationships and violence, get their feedback on Snap Counsellors and also show them our public service announcement ad. Thank you for having us Stephenians! Looking forward to seeing you again!
